Melbourne Airport rail link clears another hurdle

Australia's Transport Workers Union Victoria/Tasmania branch has welcomed Melbourne Airport's decision to support an above-ground rail link there, removing the main obstacle to having public transport in place that will connect thousands of airport/city passengers.
Two weeks ago, the TWU Vic/Tas wrote to Melbourne Airport urging the corporation to take up the recommendations of the independent mediator and support the commencement of building works.

With only four bus routes connecting the airport to the city, and ongoing worker shortages at the airport, the union says the rail link will support the rebuild of Australia's aviation industry.
