Gulf Air has appointed Des Vertannes Cargo manager replacing Ali Murtada. Murtada vice president business units for Gulf Air, now has an expanded role within the airline and is responsible for MICE and holidays development but will maintain a general oversight of cargo operations.
Improved market opportunities made possible by an expanded open-skies agreement between Canada and the United States will see Air Canada start daily flights from Sydney to Toronto via Los Angeles in 2007. The new flights will utilize the airline’s new B777 - the world’s most technologically advanced passenger jet.

Singapore is also the carrier's first scheduled destination in Southeast Asia.
