PRICING PRESSURE IMPACTS BAWC RESULT

British Airways World Cargo (BAWC) has reported flown revenues of £498 million for the full financial year ending 31 March 2006, an increase of 3.3 per cent against the same period last year. When the exchange rate effect is removed flown revenues stand at £486 million, a slight increase of 0.8 per cent over the financial year.

Lufthansa Cargo is streamlining the organisation of its handling and sales activities outside Germany. In future, the respective area managers will be responsible for both these functions. In Germany, however, handling and sales will remain separate organisational units.

Despite a huge fire in cargo facilities at Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport Thursday regular traffic has begun operating again. The fire injured three people and totally destroyed all cargo terminals including warehouse facilities.

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) posted a pre-tax loss of RM309.118 million in its first quarter ended March 31, 2006, (Q1 2006), as against a pre-tax profit of RM112.017 million in the same quarter of 2005 (Q1 2005).
