Aust’s June freight figures rise

The latest passenger data compiled by the Australian Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) shows international scheduled freight traffic in June 2012 increased by 7.4 per cent over June 2011 to 70,984 tonnes.

Etihad raises Virgin stake

Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways has raised its equity stake in Virgin Australia Holdings to 10 per cent by buying 221 million shares on the open market. Etihad Airways received Australian Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) approval to increase its holding from five per cent to 10 per cent some six weeks ago.
