The UK's Airport Operators Association (AOA) says a study by Oxera, an independent consultancy based in Oxford, estimates local airline industry payments will exceed their environmental costs – the amount the aviation industry should contribute to offset the eco-damage it causes – by up to GBP1.1 billion in 2012.
