British Airways says one possible obstacle in the way of its planned merger with Spain’s Iberia has been removed – the British carrier says it does not need approval from its pension trustees for the planned GBP3.5 billion merger. Chief executive Willie Walsh said: “There is no cash involved – it is an all-share merger. We don’t see any issue with our trustees.”

Subject to approvals, Luxembourg, Europe-based Cargolux plans to launch an Italian subsidiary to operate intercontinental all-cargo services from Malpensa airport, Milan, Italy.
Cargolux claims to be Europe’s largest all-cargo airline, operating a fleet of 16 B747-400 freighters covering 90 destinations.

Scandinavian carrier Norwegian has announced flights from UK’s London Gatwick to Copenhagen and five other Nordic destinations. From March, it will fly to Copenhagen (twice per day), Oslo (three times per day), Bergen/Stavanger/Aalborg (each once per day) and Tromso twice per week on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
