The world’s largest passenger jet, the A380, is embarking on a visit to the Asia-Pacific region as part of a series of demonstration tours that will take place during the year. The Asia-Pacific tour will take the A380 development aircraft MSN7 to Narita, Japan from 04 -06 June, then to Sydney, from 06 - 08 June and finally to Taipei from 08-10 June, after having made a series of airport compatibility trials at Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) airport from 01-03 June jointly with Air France and Aéroports de Paris.

BAWC improves yields in soft cargo market

British Airways World Cargo (BAWC) has reported commercial revenues (flown revenues plus fuel surcharges) of GBP618 million for the full year, a decrease of 3.1 per cent against the same period last year. After the impact of exchange rate movements is removed, commercial revenues were down by 0.5 per cent. The airline has also made provision of GBP350 million in its full year accounts, for fines it expects to pay in relation to allegations of anti-competitive activity on long-haul passenger and cargo fuel surcharges.

Emirates SkyCargo has confirmed it will wet lease three B747-400ERF aircraft from Netherlands-based global express company, TNT and the first aircraft is scheduled for delivery by 27 May.
