Malaysia Airlines Cargo (MASKargo) has appointed Shahari Sulaiman as managing director replacing Dato JJ Ong, who will step down from the company in August. Sulaiman, an aerospace engineer by training, is currently the general manager, cargo operations for MASkargo.

New Boeing 777 freighter on track

Boeing says it has completed 50 per cent of the design for the new 777 Freighter.
The US aircraft manufacturer claims the aircraft will provide more capacity than any other twin-engine freighter and the lowest trip cost of any large freighter.

Cargo boost for Singapore Airlines

Singapore Airlines has reported a 4.2 per cent year-on-year growth in system-wide passenger carriage (in revenue passenger kilometres) for May 2007, while capacity (measured in available seat kilometres) reduced by 1.5 per cent. This led to an overall improvement in passenger load factor (PLF) of 4.1 percentage points to 74.8 per cent. The number of passengers carried rose by 6.2 per cent over the same month last year to 1.50 million.

Schenker official logistics provider for POB

Schenker has been appointed official logistics provider for the Paris Opera Ballet (POB) which is visiting Australia/Sydney for the first time this month. The tour will comprise a company of 135 including 90 dancers and with the Sydney Lyric Orchestra and will present three programs. Schenker will handle both origin and destination cargo transportation services from France to Australia. POB’s cargo includes costumes, props and all other equipment that is involved with the entire set up of the ballet show.
