SAS Cargo to operate to India and the US

SAS Cargo Group has confirmed plans to add two intercontinental destinations from October 2008. The carrier will operate four weekly departures between Copenhagen and India and three weekly departures between Copenhagen and San Francisco using A340 equipment offering up to 15 tons of cargo belly space. Kenneth Marx, president and chief executive for SAS Cargo Group said the airline had been keen to offer direct air cargo transport between India and Scandinavia. “The opening of San Francisco as a new destination will also be good news for our customers, since we already operate Scandinavia - the American west coast.” SAS Cargo Group A/S, an independent company 100 per cent owned by the SAS Group, employs around 1430 people. SAS Cargo's revenue in 2006 was 3,600m SEK (387m EUR).

California-based Quatrotec Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alien Technology Corporation, today announced it is working on, or has already completed projects at 28 US airports for security systems installation and integration, passenger checkpoint reconfiguration, and baggage and air cargo screening systems. Airport projects include John F. Kennedy (JFK), San Francisco Airport (SFO) and Miami International Airport (MIA).

Rockford promises million-dollar savings

The US’s claimed 22nd busiest airport, Chicago Rockford International (RFD), is pitching to win freight business away from its better-known big brother O’Hare.
Rockford’s airport can handle everything including Airbus A380. Currently only about 30 planes per night use it.

Pakistan’s Sialkot International Airport is now open. Developed over 1050 acres of land and equipped to handle B747-400, A300 and 737 aircraft, estimated early cargo throughput is put at 28515 tons and passenger numbers at around 530000 a year. Sialkot has a 3.6km runway.
