New Dubai facility on schedule
The new Zabeel Hall, which will add 15,000 sqm of exhibition space to the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, is on schedule for opening in September.

Dubai is rapidly evolving as a major MICE locale, in tandem with its development as a regional and global transportation and trading hub.

Exhibitor support for many exhibitions, both stand-alone and combined with conferences, has grown so strongly that facilities have on occasions been stretched to cope with demand.

Zabeel Hall will expand DICEC’s capacity by 30 per cent.

Helal Saeed Al Marri, director general of the Dubai World Trade Centre, said the hall was “destined to play an important role in the future development of the MICE industry in the UAE and wider region.

“The new exhibition hall will provide a world-class facility that will enable DICEC to both attract new business and expand the capacity and facilities offered to existing events at the centre.”

Construction of Zabeel Hall is the first phase of a longer-term plan involving a major redevelopment and enhancement of the DICEC complex to include a new-era convention centre, office and residential towers, hotels and apartments, shops and other facilities.

This development will be augmented by a further 120,000 square metre venue planned for Dubai Exhibition City, part of the Jebel Ali Airport City, by 2009.
Dubai is already promoting this as “one of the most prestigious conference and exhibition locations in the world, offering unmatched facilities and support”.
