Recent research showed that Australia’s business events are responsible for directly generating A$17.3 billion in expenditure and 116,000 jobs. Exhibitions are responsible for A$2.9 billion of this — and could represent an even larger contribution except for the lack of available space in Australia’s major centres.

Carrot culture helps companies recognise their key performers.

The Co-author of several best-selling leadership books Chester Elton, who is also vice president of performance recognition with the OC Tanner Recognition Company, will deliver a keynote address at the 14th Incentive Travel and Conventions, Meetings Asia (IT&CMA) and 9th Corporate Travel World (CTW) Asia-Pacific 2006 Conference IT&CMA in Pattaya, Thailand in October.

His presentation on ‘carrot culture’ or ‘recognition culture’ is planned as an engaging and humorous session. Delegates will hear the latest research showing how recognising excellence impacts the bottom line. Most importantly, attendees will learn how their organisations can recognise employees in an effective manner. The presentation promises great ideas that can be used right away and strategies that can take organisations to the next level of employee engagement.

Elton, a recognition consultant to global firms such as Johnson & Johnson, DHL, Barclays, Avis and KPMG, remarked, “No matter where I travel - whether at a conference in Beijing, a training session in Kuala Lumpur or consulting with a client in London or New York — people issues are the same. We are all seeking to find good people and engage their hearts and minds.

“The Carrot Culture helps leaders understand that positive recognition of employees is no longer the soft side of business, but a critical communication skill for leaders to inspire the best from the people they work with. Done right, it works every time,” he added.

IT&CMA and CTW Asia-Pacific, with the event theme of ‘Pure Magic! A World of Incentives’ will be co-located for the third year and will be held at the Pattaya Exhibition and Convention Hall (PEACH) from 10-12 October 2006. IT&CMA is the region’s premier meetings and incentive travel show which promotes the Asia-Pacific region as a MICE destination as well as a source for MICE visitors. CTW Asia-Pacific is a conference and exhibition on Travel & Entertainment management for the Asia-Pacific region.
